CHACHAPOYAS - PERUTYPICAL FOOD AND RESTAURANTS
Restaurants and cafeterias in Chachapoyas offer a variety of Peruvian and International dishes. Foremost among gastronomic attractions in the region is the "puturmute", a dish which blends the flavors of "mote" (boiled corn kernels), beans, coriander and "cecina" a type of dehydrated meat.
Other typical regional dishes are 'tamalitos', smaller than the coastal "tamales"; "cazuela", a pot roast of beef and lamb with a glass of white wine, "humitas de choclo", small, sweet corn tamales, and banana filled with minced meat and peanuts. For desert there are figs and peaches in syrup. True treats for the taste buds!
