Chachapoyas can be reached either by air, by land or a combination of both. There are two airports in Chachapoyas, which are reached only by aircraft of the Peruvian Air Force during relief flights. Prior confirmation of such flights should be made at Lima International Airport. Occasionally, a regional travel agency arranges chartered flights.

The overland route from Lima to Chachapoyas takes around 30 hours. To avoid spending over a day in a bus, we recommend you fly as far as Chiclayo, capital of the department of Lambayeque, or Tarapoto, in the department of San Martin, and continue the journey over land from either city.
