DAY 01:Iquitos/ Tambo Amazonico Lodge
Iquitos Tours, Tambo Yanayacu Logde, Peru ToursOur personnel will meet and greet you at the Airport. Transfer to Iquitos.
Along the way you will briefly sightsee Iquitos, looking at the most important tourist sites of this representative Peru's Easternmost City founded in the XIXth Century.

Transfer by land to the City of Nauta on the banks of the Maranon River where you will board the boat that will take you to the Tambo Amazonico Lodge. On the way you will be impressed at the sight of the Amazon River formation in the confluence of the Maranon with the Ucayali. Box lunch on route.

Arrival in our Tambo Amazonico Lodge located on the Yarapa River (100 miles from Iquitos), one of the first tributaries of the Amazon River, in the so called "buffer zone" or the "gateway" to the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve.

As soon as you are installed you will take a hike or canoe ride to explore the beauty of the place. The Tambo Amazonico Lodge is surrounded by exuberant vegetation and beautiful dark water oxbow lakes. Supper at the Lodge. Overnight.

DAY 02: Tambo Amazonico
Iquitos Tours, Tambo Amazonico Lodge , Peru Tours Early morning Bird watching on the Amazon (Yarapa River mouth). Here it may also be possible to see the amazing Pink Amazon River Dolphins.
Breakfast at the Lodge.

Primary jungle trekking to observe the diversity of trees that exists around the Lodge, amongst timber, medicinal and fruit producing species which are used by the local people. Unique opportunity to spot Fauna species that inhabit the area (monkeys, birds, reptiles); also a diversity of insects and plants.
Lunch at the Lodge.

Dug-out canoe ride to the Moringo oxbow lake to see the spectacular Water lilac "Victoria Regia". It will also be possible to see interesting Flora and Fauna species found on the shores, such as the "Hoatzin" or as it is locally known, "Shansho", a bird with prehistoric resemblance that feeds on tree leaves that grow around the lakes.

Thrilling evening excursion to spot Caiman.

DAY 03: Tambo Amazonico
Breakfast at the Lodge.
Eco- Cultural visit to the Jaldar Native Community where you will see their handicrafts using materials found in nature. Visit to the local Shaman who will demonstrate the rituals and use of plants in natural medicine.
Lunch at the Lodge.

Canoe ride to the Uvos Oxbow Lake where you will have the opportunity to catch the feared Piranha fish.
Supper. Overnight.

DAY 04: Tambo Amazonico Lodge
Breakfast at the Lodge.
Navigate on the Amazon and Maranon Rivers to reach the City of Nauta.
Return to Iquitos by land.

ABOUT THE TAMBO AMAZONICO LODGE
Tambo Amazonico Lodge, at 115 miles / 180 km from the City of Iquitos, is located in an area of great natural beauty. The Tambo Amazonico Lodge is for the truly adventurous souls!
This wild paradise is full of sounds of birds, monkeys jumping between the trees and the laughter of the children playing in the river. The exuberant forest is home to animals, insects and many protected species. You can visit riverside villages to see the great variety of native craft made by hand; using different types of materials offered them by nature.
The Lodge, located on the remote Yarapa River at the headwaters of the mighty Amazon, is your gateway into the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Small yet comfortable, the rustic Tambo Amazonico was built according to local native design, on high platforms above the ground and has two large dormitories, each with a maximum capacity of 6 beds covered with white mosquito netting providing privacy and protection, keeping the night critters outside, while letting the cool night breezes in!
The circular screened-in meeting/dining room is spacious, and provides excellent views of the River and surrounding jungle. You will also find hammocks and comfortable wooden lounge chairs here.
There are 3 communal bathrooms and showers. Kerosene lanterns illuminate the night.
Overnight camping is available for longer jungle treks. Tents will be provided.

WE RECOMMEND YOU TO
- Use boots or sneakers the whole time during the walks.
- Drink a lot of liquid during your stay in the forest.
- Keep an extra kit of dry clothes in your room.

LUGGAGE
Lugagge is hand-carried from the boats to your rooms. We strongly recommend you to limit the weight of your luggage to 15 kilograms (32 POUNDS ) a piece.

YELLOW FEVER INOCULATION REQUERIMENTS
Yellow fever inoculation is recommended for travel to Peruvian Jungle. Get your vaccine at least 10 days before your arrival. You must bring your yellow fever inoculation certificate with you to prove to the airport officials in Iquitos that you are vaccinated.

WEATHER
The climate in the Amazon is tropical, warm, humid and rainy, with a temperature averages yearly round of 28ºC.
Rainy season: November to April.
Dry season: May to September.
During the rainy months of November through April, always be prepared for heavy rain that can continue for hours or days. Around 80% of the annual average 2000 mm rainfall occurs during these months.
