Tour Description

DAY 01: International arrival in Lima
At your international arrival in Lima, considered as City of Kings in colonial times, you will be greeted by an agent from Enjoy Peru, who will receive you willingly and transfer you to the exclusive and elegant Miraflores Park Hotel 5*. In this hotel you will have a suite at your disposition with a privileged view of the Pacific Ocean, the very same that was cleaved by pirates and corsairs during the XVIII century. In the afternoon you will be able to enjoy a relaxing Peruvian massage with hot stones at the hotel’s spa, in order for you to feel renovated and recharged to get to know the wonders of this trip. Transport at your disposition for dinner at the restaurant of your choice.

DAY 02: CUSCO, Millenarian Citadel of Machu Picchu
Early in the morning, after breakfast, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Cusco. In arriving, our representative will transfer you to the train station of Poroy, where we will set off at 9.00 a.m. for an unforgettable journey crossing the Sacred Valley, watching the unmatchable landscapes and microclimates of the Andes and the forest brow. This journey, regarded as one of the most spectacular in the world, will be enjoyed onboard the comfortable and luxurious Hiram Bingham train, where you will be served an exquisite brunch. . A tourist guide will tell you about the most interesting places along the way.

Arriving in Aguas Calientes, the closest settlement to Machu Picchu, we will go on an excursion to the citadel with a specialized guide touring the same places walked by the Incas. During the approx. 3-hour tour we will appreciate the advanced architectonic achievement of the Incas, as well as the water canals, flights of stairs carved in the sheer rock, the Intihuatana or solar clock, the Royal Tomb, the House of the Priest, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Baths of the Inca. We will enjoy lunch at the Tinkuy Restaurant of the Hotel Sanctuary Lodge, located at the entrance of the archaeological site; before departing we will taste a delicious Tea Time.

At 18:00 hours we will board again the Hiram Bingham train to return to Cusco, on the way we will be offered aperitifs, live artistic shows and a sumptuous dinner including 3 courses and dessert. Our representative will be waiting for you at the train station of Poroy to transfer you to the 5* Hotel Monasterio of the Orient Express chain.

This beautiful building regarded as historical monument is located on the plot of the former palace of Inca Amaru Qhala, where the Seminary of San Antonio Abad was built in the XVI century. This is why you will be able to sense an air of solemnity combined with luxury, elegance and comfort of a modern 5* hotel in here.

Note: The Hiram Bingham train sets off Mondays through Saturdays.

DAY 03: LIMA, International departure

Buffet Breakfast. In the morning and in due time, you will be transferred to the airport to take your returning flight to Lima. You will have a room at your disposition at the Orient Express Miraflores Park Hotel 5* until the time of your international departure.

On this day we will visit Lima “City of Kings” and get to know the most representative attractions, such as the city’s Historic Center, where we will have a panoramic view of the Plaza San Martin, the Plaza Mayor, the Palace of Government, the Cathedral Basilica, the Archiepiscopal Palace, the Municipal Palace, the Church of Santo Domingo, etc.

If you wish we will visit the catacombs of the Convent of San Francisco to walk through some of its passageways and end up exactly under the central nave of this beautiful church of renaissance and baroque styles. Then we will visit the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, where we will have the chance to visit one of the two most representative huacas of the Culture of Lima, such as the Huaca Pucllana and the Huaca Huallamarca, both located in the midst of urban zones contrasting the pre Columbian legacy with the modern world.

Then we will be able to visit El Olivar Park in San Isidro, called like this for having a representative number of olive trees brought in from Spain during the XVI century. Besides, we will visit Miraflores’ Central Park and the shopping mall of Larcomar, a tourist and entertainment center, and a privileged spot to appreciate a spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

At this shopping mall we will have the chance to visit a show room exhibiting representative objects of the Gold Museum of Peru. In this place we will appreciate pieces made of gold and silver that show the advanced development of the pre Hispanic civilizations in the field of metallurgy. The outstanding hand of the Peruvian craftsmen using a stone hammer made pieces that nowadays would need a laminator jut out on this exhibition, showing the validity of the Andean millenarian Cosmovision as well.

Then we will return to your hotel. We will transfer you to the airport in due time in order for you to take your international flight.

End of our services.

WEATHER
Peru's climate may be divided into two: The Western Andes and the Desert Coast. On the Coast, it does not rain and the temperature is warm through the year. On the other hand, in the Andes, there are two seasons: Rainy and dry.

Cusco is located in the Eastern Andes, so their rainy season is from October to May, the rest of the year it is dry.

Rainy time, starting in October/ November has its own maximum in January, continuing until March/ April. In years of pouring rain there are landslides, floods, etc.

On the highlands, it is cold in the evenings but sunny and warm in the mornings. It is even possible to wear t-shirts, but when the sun sets it gets really chilly so please bring a warm sweater (or buy an alpaca one in Cusco) and a good jacket.

Photography or camera fees are applicable at most sights and museums; your guide can give you details of the latest charges.

ELECTRICITY
Power voltage in Peru is 220 Volts AC, 60 Hz. Most modern electrical appliances do not need adapters since they will accept both 110 as well as 220 AC voltages. Please make sure to check the voltage options of those artefacts you intend to take with you during your trip, such as hair dryers, battery chargers, notebooks and lap tops, video cameras, etc. Most of these do not usually need a special adapter, but it is important that you make sure of that before leaving your country of origin in order not to have to buy special 110 V / 220 V AC adapters, which, however, can be found in the local market here in Peru.

HEALTH

PERUVIAN GASTRONOMY
Peruvian cuisine is highly varied and spicy. Some of our typical dishes are: "cebiche" (raw fish marinated in lemon juice), "aji de gallina" (de-boned chicken cooked in a milk and aji sauce), and "anticuchos" (shish kebabs of beef heart and meat), apart from the typical dishes from each region.
Be sure to try "Pisco Sour", Peru's typical mixed drink prepared with pisco, lemon, egg white and sugar.
