A city that opens its doors to new concepts and new forms of creativity. Exhibitions of sculpture, painting and photography reflecting the sensitivity of Ibero-American artists, were held in Lima during the Ibero-American Biennial, an event organized by the Municipality of Lima and sponsored by Tele 2000/Bell South.

The works of 60 of the most distinguished representatives of the plastic arts in a score of countries turned the City of Kings into a place of encounter and interchange between artists and viewing public.

Not only artists arrived at the Lima Biennial but also - as happened in the Biennials of Brazil, Cuenca and Havana - a large number of critics, intellectuals and specialized journalists.

The Biennial was a dazzling macro-event in contemporary culture. It opened October 27 and right from the start caught the attention of Limeņos. Over one and a half million people visited the 17 sites located in the Historic Center, exhibiting works emphasizing new concepts in Ibero-American art.
