The third important renovation work undertaken was the Parque Universitario, a true symbol of education and culture in Peru. Unfortunately, this park had latterly become more a symbol of the neglect and untidiness taking over the city.

Today it is totally renovated, assuming once more the mantle of grandeur associated successively with the old Jesuit novitiate, the Real Convictorio of San Carlos; the four-hundred-year-old University of San Marcos; Guadalupe School; the National School of Preceptors, and the Ministry of Education.
